Common Questions (FAQs)

What are your services like?
Casual, laid back, ‘come-as-you-are’. Our 9:30 am and 11 am services have different
‘flavors’ of worship through music, but the message is the same. We like to find one
big idea that we focus on, and we try to emphasize it through the music, video clips,
teaching points, scripture verses, etc… Why not come check us out for yourself?
How should I dress?
In short - there’s no dress code. Shorts, T-shirts, Jeans, Kahkis, polo shirts…
It’s totally up to you. We want you to wear something – but be comfortable.
What do you have for my kids?
We have something for the entire family! Toddlers, children, pre-teens and teens each go to
their own groups on Sunday mornings to learn about the same topics as the adults, just in
their own way on their level. If you wish, they’re welcome to stay in the sanctuary and hang out
with the adults, too… That’s totally up to you. We also have Life Groups through out the week for
different age groups, and STRIVE (the Jr. and Sr. High Youth Group) also meets on Sunday nights, too!!!

I’ve been burned at other churches before. How are you different?
First, we’re really sorry to hear that. No one likes to get burned, especially by a church.
Our purpose is not to be a ‘typical church’ that only does ‘churchy things’ and talks the
‘churchy lingo’, but rather to be a genuine community that offers encouragement and hope to
you on a personal level with your journey of faith (no matter where you are on that journey).
We believe that if we’re operating in the way that God is calling us to be, you’ll feel accepted,
encouraged, uplifted, and challenged – but in a positive way… and it DEFINITELY doesn’t feel anything
like being burned!!!
How do I find out what’s going on at Miami Whitewater?
There’s a few ways to find out what’s happening. First – check out the Welcome Center in the foyer.
They’ve got flyers of upcoming events, copies of the church calendar, and a really nice person who’s
excited to answer your questions and address your needs. Another way to find out what’s happening is
to check out our community calendar online… Simply click on the link on the left. Third – be listening
to announcements, and make sure to check out your Sunday morning bulletin. We put these together each week
to let you know what’s going on at Miami Whitewater in hopes that you’ll join us! You can always email Pastor
Mike, too. He enjoys meeting new people and helping them any way he can.
How do I get involved with the music groups, including the Praise Team?
We’re excited to hear that you’re looking for a place to get plugged in! Our music department is
looking forward to talking with you! One easy way to get connected with the right person is to fill
out the blue Visitor Card that’s in the pocket in front of your chair each Sunday morning, and write
in that you’d like more info about joining one of the music groups. Rebecca Palmatier coordinates the
Praise Team and Creative Arts Team, and shewould love to speak with you, too!!! Walk up to her on
Sunday morning and introduce yourself! OR – if you prefer, feel free to email her…

How do I get plugged-in to a Life Group (Life Phase Community)?
You can speak with any of our greeters, ushers, or staff and they’d be happy to connect you with a
group leader that might work for you. But that’s not even necessary… Here’s all you have to do:
Show up on Tuesday night. We’ll take care of the rest. That’s easy, right?
What is expected of members? / How do I join?
Anyone interested in becoming a member of Miami Whitewater will take part in one of the New Members classes
that occur through out the week… This class is 6 weeks and is a great way to have some of those ‘in-depth’
questions about Miami Whitewater answered.
